Hi all,

Finally got my order from OcUK after a slight delay, tried putting it all together, pressed the on button, everything whirred into life...but no "beep" from the bios to say it's working, and nothing at all displayed on the monitor! :( The lights on my usb keyboard don't light up either, so something isn't right!!

most my spec is up at http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17771530 for the exact parts i've put in.

I removed everything except for psu, cpu and ram - still nothing.

Removed the ram - finally got a noise, 3 long beeps, slight pause, then continual beeping of the same length as the first 3 beeps. Ram back in, nothing again.

LAN light lights up on the mobo, processor gets warm and fan comes on occasionally, HD and dvd drive make usual startup noises when connected. Just no display and it appears no usb (altho i can't remember if usb only "wakes -up" after/during the POST).

Having nothing on the screen is a bit bothersome, as I've absolutely no idea what is wrong here! :(

Anyone got any ideas? This isn't the first PC I've built, so have a basic knowledge of putting stuff together, but never had anything like this happen before!

psu: corsair hx62
cpu: Q6600 g0
ram: el cheapo OcUK 2gb
mobo: gigabyte g33m ds2r

I've tried with the on board graphics, and with an old GeForce 220MX if i remember the model correctly. The GeForce definitely was working a year ago as I had it as a temporary card until my ATi x1900xt arrived (even managed to play through most of HL2 with it!!).

I've got a 24 pin and 4 pin connector plugged into the mobo, and can't seem to see one for the graphics (altho not using any pci-e yet anyway).

slots 1 and 3 (yellow ones in the gigabyte). I've also tried with just one ram stick in but doesn't help the situation :(

Just tried the two red but still same problem :(

Doh I presume I'd have to send both back for OcUK to take a look at if one of them is at fault?

Bits of the mobo seem alive, just not convinced about others. And shame there's no lights on the ram like the corsair in my other machine as would've made it easier to tell!

Anything else I could try? Thanks for the help so far btw everyone, I've wasted so many hours today trying to fix this! :(

edit: i presume if the cpu was faulty the bios would alert me to that fact?

Check the error description in the motherboard manual for three long beeps.

Have you got a friend who you could swap RAM with for a test?

no-one else to swap ram with unfortunately :( I tried from my other machine as couldn't remember what i stuck in there but it doesn't fit so must be wrong type.

The error beeps are only when no ram in so I guess that make sense, just odd it makes no beeps with all the stuff plugged in!
