Next Estimated jackpot $500,000,000

In the words of one comedian (whose name escapes me):

"I'd spend half my winnings on drink, drugs and prostitutes; the other half I'd just waste."

Who on earth would take it yearly, completely worthless.

The kind of places you could live with $380mil in your pocket are insane, you could have a 20mil mansion in LA, London, New York and other places.

If you "only" got $20mil the first year you'd actually be hard pushed to buy an insane place to live without a mortgage and paying big on interest.

I'd take the lump sum in a heartbeat, without question, $20mil a year is huge, no question but buying a $20mil mansion and leaving yourself with nothing is one thing on $20mil a year, and not even 10% of your total money on $380mil in one go.

Likewise, this is america, when you're rich making more money is fairly easy. You could buy up business's left right and centre, create an empire, have mansions around the globe, fleet's of sports cars, etc, etc.

Considering you both, might not be alive in 10 years, or 5 years, or a year, and what you could do with that much money upfront, anyone that didn't is just mental.

This.

Also, I don't suppose you can enter from the UK?

I dont think id spend more than $2 million on a house, even with $300 mill in the bank.

Same here.

I would give a few millin to family, quite a lot more to charities. There is only so much money you could ever use. I wouldn't see the point in buyi 20 million dollar homes wen ou could buy 20 amazing houses around the world.

I could easily spend over $2 million on a house, most of the doctors I work with probably live in $2million+ houses alone.

Just take a look at the Santa Barbara real estate market and you'll find that doesn't go far at all, above average but nothing special really :p

i.e. 5 bed, 4 bath - $8,750,000 yes please - not exactly an extravagant size or anything either.

Mitt Romney's pad in San Diego is freakin' epic as well both in ambition and cost, I think it's valued at around $20 million or something :p
