Next Gen iPhone Metal Backs Leaked

Hey all,

Earlier today,*we posted the first image of the back plate for the next-generation iPhone, and now we have*received*several more images that are very high-resolution. These new shots showcase a comparison between the black and white versions of the next-generation iPhone back. The black and white coloring is, of course, a trim, and a large portion of the back – as you can see – is made out of metal. We are unsure at this point what purpose this metal serves (or if it is just a stylistic addition), but the metal is*definitely*present in all of our photos of the device’s back.

Looks nice to me Comes with smaller dock connector, earphone jack has moved to the bottom of the phone and a different styled bottom to it. More photos at the source

I can't believe so many people actually think thats gonna be it? I really don't think it looks like an apple product at all. Of course I could be wrong but it screams someones homemade job (and a good one) just not a apple one.

ugh I really can't stand it! They need to remove that plastic sheet off the back but just the white and aluminium is just an awful clash for a back plate.

I personally think it's the real deal - production is obviously beginning soon - leaks like this are pretty common.

This is much too early for a full product pre release if they go to October time frame. Even saying that again its not the timescale that convinces me, its the fact it looks terrible! You watch

I guess we'll have to see... I wouldn't have too much of a problem if this was the real deal though I like it

I'm pretty convinced those parts we have seen are the real deal. I don't like the metal back but a 4" screen, new dock, thinner and hopefully facetime HD camera all point to good things

Yep it's looking likely! It all looks good to me - not really sure why people didn't think it was the real deal tbh...

Edit: One possibility that those who aren't keen on the new design is that this design is just one that is being tested in the labs...

I don't like the idea of a new dock.. I have 1 USB cables in my PC and 1 by my bed for iPad and iPhone. Then like 1 in my bag for when I'm out with my battery pack for iPhone but sometimes iPad..

Having 2 different cables will be annoying!

It is a little annoyance for now - but it'll be remedied in the future when all other apple products go the way of the smaller dock. And the reason it is good is that you can fit more 'stuff' in the products with a smaller dock

Heads will roll for that one, I'm sure.

The geek and engineer in me went 'oooooooh' when I first saw that photo

Hehe indeed! I've certainly never seen it before - Apple are meant to be tightening security but I've never seen a leak like that before. That is if that is real...

I think you'll be chewing your words in the coming months This is the real deal IMO

I'll be more concerned that Apples taken a huge leap backwards in design if that turns out to be real.

Im absolutely convinced that is not the iPhone 5

I am a little disappointed that the design change isn't huge - It isn't changed enough for me - But I'll wait until I see the actual product before placing judgement.

I do like the thought of the headphone jack on the bottom, that's for sure.

I don't really like the look of the rest though and the 2 colour thing.

I love the idea of the headphone jack at the bottom should have been there from the start

Although I do like these renders - I kind of hope the actual design is a little mor different... Looks too much the same as the previous design in my opinion... But I certainly wouldn't be hugely disappointed The black looks very sexy indeed
