*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Stuck CM11 on the wife's dead S3.... Felt like a Nexus device and actually worked. Reflashed the stock ROM and the phone was a dog that didn't hunt. Ended up back on CM11 and sold it like that.

Still didn't hold a candle to my N5 though.

doh got myself the wireless charger from google store but it does it is not charging.

I do get the red light when plugging the charger into PC indicating it is not getting enough power but it means it is not broken.

When plugging it into the wall socket no red light but it still just does not charge. Anybody had a similar problem?

Edit: goodness gracious I am silly. All I had to do was turn the phone off and then back on and it's working now. :D

stock is still lacking basic features imo. for instance cyanogen mod you can change the sound of charging and uncharging each a different noise. the quick settings button that you get in the notification bar work how they should in that you click to change the state, or hold to get to settings, unlike now the airplane mode is click, wifi is hold to enable, and data doesn't change unless you go to it's settings page. messy. there is lots mods correct which i'm disappointed stock android hasn't done yet.

I use Gravity box for most of my changes, for me it is expanded volume control, switch all toggles to be click to activate and long press to go into settings, change the battery icon, add charging animation, make it light up on charger.

None of this really needs a custom rom, and it just means life is that much more easier. Franco Kernel I only use cause it is extremely stable, very easy to install with the app and I can just update it every month or so and get all the changes in 1 big go.

What are you using gravity box on (rom / kernel wise)?

Stock rom and Franco Kernel. I just downloaded Xposed framework, and install GG kitkat version not hand any issues since November. We have the same set up, have you tried wiping your device and installing again. Also I think you need to be on Dalvik when install GG.

Oops... weightlifting and Nexus 5s don't mix.... a nice cracked screen for me! :(

Fortunately I've got phone cover on my bank so I can get it replaced for £20... and all my data is backed up, and app data through helium/carbon backup.

What a PITA!

Then you shouldn't try and lift the nexus up :p you're not at that level yet :D

Yep, tried Dalvik and ART. Wiped both times. When you say you are using GG kitkat, what do you mean? Do you mean GB kitkat?

The only other thing I've done (consistently) is drop my LCD density to 400. I wonder if that could be causing it issues

Whoops, meant GB Kitkat. Not sure why your having issues, I'm on the latest Franco and I just uninstalled and install Xposed again and everything is fine. Maybe give it a shoot with Stock kernel, then back it up using titanium and install it using that once your on Franco.

I don't see any reasons for LCD density to cause an issue.

Back to the trusty N5 whilst I sort out the issues with the M8.

I forgot how rapid this phone is and what a joy it is to use.

I might not go back to the M8.

What's your thoughts on the M8. Been thinking about a Google play edition version.

It's a great phone and I highly recommend it it's almost as fast as the N5 and music playback through the speakers and headphones are second to none.

Battery life is said to be on par with the Note 3 and G2 but unfortunately I haven't experienced it as my M8 has a faulty battery and is suffering from wakelock issues.

I would definitely recommend getting it especially if you buy the GPe version as HTC have been putting up their apps on the Play Store so you can have a hybrid M8.

If you can get hold of the GPe buy it.
