Luckily it's covered on the house insurance. Going to get it replaced but give the replacement to my mum and she's smashed the screen on her S4, and I'll treat myself to a G3 or S5

I'm not going to bother with the official bumper and going to go for the black spigen slim armor case.
... so my battery life on this phone has become amazing, and I'm not sure how. Previously I'd have to charge it constantly. Commuting to work with music - I'd lose around 20%. Overnight without any activity - I'd lose more than 20%. Now, it loses considerably less during commutes and close to nothing at all during nights. I'm amazed!
It may just be certain apps that have been updated to use less juice, but has anyone else found their phone using less battery than preciously recently?

My guess would be a rogue app that's been keeping your phone from sleeping. Glad its improved for you, more battery life is never a bad thing
Has anyone got any ideas on preventing dust build up on the speakers for this phone? I work in engineering using and programming laser cutters and dust is rife! It soon killed off my HTC one speakers in no time and I kept that in a zip lock bag 90% of the time!

Anyone else get fed up of how often their phone checks for updates? Every time I go in to updates it says it checked for updates xx minutes ago. Why does it need to check for updates that frequently? Surely once every 2-3 weeks is ok?

My guess is when ever you sync something it just checks to see if their is an update since the radio is awake. If its not effecting your battery life I don't really see any issue with it.

That wouldn't happen though. Anyone that's annoyed about a THREE week late update would have manually checked for updates. Most people simply don't care.
