*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Except it's not much cheaper - GS4 is £388.

IMO Nexus 5 looks better design wise than the S4 and it also gets updates quicker, and more stable AOSP ROMS. That's enough to for it to compete with the GS4. Camera's are on par too.

64GB N5 @ £399 would in high numbers sell easily.

No major improvement over the One - The One has a lot going for it.

the only real improvement over the ONE IMO is the camera the rest is not really worth upgrading for :) unless you really want stock android, quick updates and a bigger screen!

I don't think the camera on the N5 is a lot better than the One personally.

IMO One has a nicer screen and better speakers. GE ROM too.

A mixture of both phones would be immense :D

its the extra resoliution that makes a big difference in my case! :) 90% of my pics will be cropped and 99% of them are taken on my phone.. over the 5 months that I've owned my oppo I took a little over 400 pics so camera is an important-ish thing in my case.

haha yeah.. imagine

snappie 800
3gb ram
5" samoled display
one's speakers
alu body
sd slot
10mpx+ camera with OIS(duh) and good low light performance
stock android - with ONE-ish camera software
soft buttons(not software)

:eek:

this is on faux kernel

oh and for those that want lower density screen on your N5(imo stock is way to high for this resolution)

example -;

you'll need ROOT but do -;

download -; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox&hl=en
open
navigate to performance
click build.prop editor
find "ro.sf.lcd_density"
change from 480 to 380(if you want the same as my example screenshot)
allow the app to reboot the phone..

TADAAA...

Whats really going on with the camera?

Mixed reviews so far.

- Marques Brownlee wasnt all that impressed. He didnt seem that enthusiastic like he was with the Moto X.
- The Verge are not impressed.
- Android Police say its okay but not great.
- Artem (ex-AP) is not impressed at all.

Focusing and software issues aside, they all say that the picture quality is an improvement over the N4 but still not good enough.

How are people then saying the camera is better than the HTC One and S4?
:confused:

better is a strong word to use in this case :) its better in some cases but its slow to shot, slow to focus etc.. and google AFAIK is aware of the issue and is working on it :) it takes a couple of takes to get the "right" picture but once you have it, its alright overall! :) low light is good if a bit TOO Bright imo.. contrast is a bit off sometimes..

some random shots I took -;
