Nice moment today...ATM related

Yes they may well do, but it's use was unheard of in everyday English until fairly recently. 15-20 years ago if you said ATM to me I wouldn't even know what you were talking about. Were you even in the UK back then?

I was just about in the country then - however I don't see what relevance this has? :) Though maybe you're implying that my lack of English language skill may have had me under the perception that, "an ATM" was not the correct way to call such a machine? :)

The Brits did come up with their own version; "hole in the wall" or "cash machine" - which are both perfectly valid terms and what makes the UK and the English language so quaint. :)

I don't know why you took exception to my comment - I was merely trying to help with the edification of the forum populace!

Bloody Frenchies and your big words :p
Nice one OP I left £20 in a self service machine in asda the other week luckily the guy behind me shouted me back or else the house would have been rather chilly without any gas

I think my Mum owes Karma one after she left her handbag (Passports, credit cards, keys, phone, e-reader etc.) in a NYC taxi a few years ago. The taxi driver drove all the way back to the hotel expecting no fare to give it back (cue my Dad emptying his wallet at him).

I found a tenner on the floor in the pub the other day and handed it in behind the bar. A tenner isn't a life changing amount of cash but a bag full of money...name your price!

No way on earth would i hand a tenner to a guy working in a pub that is just as likely to be as corrupt as me and thinking "cha-ching free tenner"

Losing money like that is just an acceptable loss to me, Its very different if its a whole purse/wallet or the ATM type incident, pub floor .. no haha ;)

I'm with you on this one. I wouldn't hand in money found on a shop floor or pub floor if it were that small.
