nice touch in closing the forum down as a mark of respect

Thanks for those links Spie! I can't believe it has been 8 years either, soo many innocent people lost their lives that day. My thoughts still go out to all of the victims & families of those who were affected. Sadly though because of the stupid DNS problems here at work I couldn't view all of the links! :(

Thanks again,

Liam

I remember sitting after school watching this on the news when I was 10 years old. I think that moment will probably stick with me for the rest of my life.

Same here, I was 12 at the time & I can always remember that afternoon when I just got home from school & watching Sky news.

Did anyone else see "102 minutes" on Sky Anytime?

They didn't show the plane crashes, but it was 102 minutes of entire eyewitness footage which made for some dramatic viewing :(

I think everyone remembers ot clearly.

My mum was watching home and away, which I believe was on channel 5, it flicked off and she thought it was some movie or something, I came home in year 8 and put my maths books and that on the left side of the chair beside the window, I had a dairlea lunchable, which I dropped thinking WW3 started, to be precise, it was ham and cheese and also came with one of those caprisun orange juice drinks.

I watched it the other night, certainly very upsetting :( I couldn't believe it when they showed the part with that businessman who attempted to get to work but the whole area got blocked off & he was stuck where he was, and he was saying that 2 of this businesses were in one of the blocks of the Trade Centre's. I hate to imagine how he felt at the end of that day and the result of his businesses! I couldn't believe what I was seing as well when they showed when the first tower collapsed and everything turned to darkness because of the black debree cloud!

Worst part of the programme was when it showed people jumping and you can see another plane looming in the background.. only moments later for everyone behind the camera screaming, to which it pans and shows a giant fireball in tower 2 :(

...tbh it not a huge deal, so many more people have died in single incidents all over the world, but it doesnt get the same amount of news coverage because its not happening in america, or a 1st world country....are 1st world lives really worth that much more than others??

I did, I found it very interesting seeing it from the point of view of your everyday American, who was in and around the events. Some of the footage was amazing and horrific in equal quantity.

I thought the man, who was blaming "monday night football" for his late arrival to work and thus saving his life, was very surreal.

Careful with comments like that, you may end up getting people to see the one-sidedness of their own arguments.

Over 3000 people where killed and as many as 600 I think died instantly when the planes impacted, does seem kinda like a big deal on the day. But what's done is done and no turning back time, no point getting sad over it anymore.

No, I agree, I personally don't think we (English) should make such a big deal / event over such a small loss of life compared to other events in history. We aren't American, something that is often forgotten.

I however, normally keep my personal views to myself on days like today, and allow other people to go about this in which ever way they would like to.

If Spie continues to do this as he has done, good on him, that's no problem for me, I'm sure there are many people who were directly and indirectly affected by this and want to show a mark of respect. I'm in full support of that, and respect them for their decisions.

some sick @~@: in our office printed out a 'Happy twin towers day' joke poster, and found it most amusing... Its not often I consider anything to be sick... but this is one time...

I watched it on the TV as well, but never think about it, until it's drummed into me by all and sundry. TBH unless you are American or knew one of the 70 brits that dies there really is no significance now. Just another terrorist incident like the dozens before it (and couple after) that killed brits...

It's quite relevant at the moment considering our soldiers are still losing their lives in afghanistan - not wishing to simplify the global situation but the simple fact is they wouldn't be there if not for 9/11.
