I am going to be in Nottingham to see my sister for Thursday and Friday night and then go to Newcastle on Saturday for a night out there with a friend and I need some cool places to go.
They have both just started Uni in the respective places so know the area but are being very slack about it.

So where is good that meets the following criteria.

No shoe/dress code - The clubs should be avioded on principle as they contain mostly idiots imho and I can't be bothered with it.
Great music - I saw Mr Scruff last Friday night who was AWESOME! Anything along those lines would be really good. Good Drum and Bass DJ's are also good, feel free to suggest anything and I will have a look, I like to keep an open mind to music :)
Open till late - Nothing wrong with dancing until 4am :D

So where should I be going guys, this weekend needs to be great!

Thanks in advance :)

What's she studying at Notts?

I'd recommend you stay well away from Ocean. Depends what you want really, The Orange Tree is a really nice pub/bar and the Pitcher and Piano is a really nice swanky bar in a converted church in the Lace Market - bit pricey but very nice. For DnB your first port of call should be Stealth which is just beside the Rescue Rooms.

At all costs avoid Ocean and Isis like the plague unless you like terrible cheese.

If your looking for nice bars, they are a few along the quayside.

I would recomend the pitcher and piano as you will be able to look out at the bridges and the sage.

Taken with my phone.

You could look at going to tokyo bar which is near central station.

I would suggest digital for the night.

Firstly Mr Scruff is amazing! Saw him twice in one weekend over the summer. The Social was always a good bet for me, not far from market square (Nottingham that is).

I wouldn't go to the lace market if you don't like places with dress codes, especially pitcher & piano, haveing said that its good during the day for lunch.

Hmm, got in there no problem on Saturday night. A trip to the Trip is worth it for an early drink just to visit the alleged oldest pub in England (contested by The Bell and the Salutation Inn, also in Nottingham).

Nottingham = BZR by The Castle is apparently good. 3 shots of spirit for £2.50 or something.. worth a look according to the new boy - one I wished we checked out at the weekend...

Newcastle - Buffalo Joes, followed by FYEO.

There isn't strict dress code at many places in Lace Market, it's not something I worry about.

Check out Brass Monkey, Bluu Bar, Dogma, Rescue Rooms and The Social. Basically Lace Market and Hockley have nice places. Unfortunately you're out of luck for Drum N Bass because you're going to Newcastle on Saturday. If you stayed you could go to:

Detonation - 10pm - 6am

Grooverider & MC Rage
Mampi Swift & IC3
Friction & Eksman
Total Science & Wrec
Bassline Smith & Biggie
Break & Ruthless
Transit Mafia & P-Fine
Manoeuvre

Which is at the Marcus Garvey and will be disgustingly good.

Blueprint may have a club night on on Friday though, and they do some drum n bass and techno kinda stuff.

Rock City on a Friday is reasonable, but not fantastic. And Stealth is wicked if they have a good night on, not sure what's happening this Friday, might be Firefly, but they had one at the Garvey recently so it might not be happening this month.

BZR run triples for singles basically. It's an alright place, full of students, but it's not too bad.
