hi

is the nikon d80 still considered a decent camera?

i bought it years ago, need to take some photos... not sure if it is worth using or not? (I've not actually got access to it right now to try out)

what are your opinions on it?

It is still a good camera, nothing really happens to DSLR sensors, the camera doesn't get any worse.

Whether you want a new camera will entirely depend on what you want to photograph and what spare cash you want to get rid of.

Nothing wrong with a D80. It ain't got 4 million AF points and the ISO is bit noisy at 1600 but its really nothing to worry about and is as capable as any modern body when it comes to stills.

I use a D80. It's a perfectly good camera.

While it may not shoot high-res video, have live view, 15+ AF points, super high ISO or a flip-out screen, it does take lovely photographs, feels nice in the hand and is easy to use. Frankly I don't want all the bells & whistles (and I don't think I've ever shot above iso800) as They'd probably just be a distraction.

I have the D80 and 2 lens's. I am slowly getting into photography and to me this is a great camera to learn with. nothing wrong with it at all.

Learn your way around it. Learn all about photography and then if you want 'more' you can always buy something newer in the future.

Love my D80. I have the battery grip for it as well.
