I am wanting a Nikon 18-200mm AF-S DX VR Lens but as we all know they are like rocking Horse s*** to get hold of in the UK.

I have seen HK Supplies on EBay ..They claim to have some new ones in stock.

So...Has anyone on here bought from them, if so was it a smooth transaction & delivered on time?

Does anyone know where has some in stock in the UK so i don't have to look to getting one from abroad?

Cheers

no idea what the Nikon version is like but the sigma and tamron versions of this type of "mega zoom" are rubbish. The focal distances are too great.

Maybe the Nikon version is better though

The Nikon version is supposed to be the first acceptable mega-zoom with decent sharpness and not the horrible distortion you'd expect (except at the widest end, but that's understandable). It even has AF-S (USM equivalent) and it's especially useful because of the VRII (claimed 4-stop advantage).

Most people who have one seem to love it to bits, so it looks like Nikon hit the spot.

Yup it's a great lens if you dont like changing lenses or dont mind not having fast apertures over the 3-4stop VR advantage for low light shooting hand held, it has the quality and AF speed ou expect but it is a fair bit pricier than the sigma and tamron equivelants and for good reason.

It's not as sharp as the 18-70 kit lens though for example but is sharp in general.

There is a high chance you will have to pay tax on the lens buying from HK though, I had to pay £30 tax when I last bought a lens off HK, unless they mark is as no value and label it as a gift which many wont do as it doesn't offer any damage insurance etc.

I have bought lenses from HK a number of times, including one or two from the place you mention. Very few problems encountered. :)

And yes, thats a good (walkabout) lens. :)
