I can't remember the last time I found a game so damn hard! I am only by the first "boss" on what I am assuming is just the training level, and for the life of me I can not flippin kill him. Don't even think I got him down to half health!

HELP! PLEASE!

Apart from that, I love the gameplay and mechanics. The damn thing just feels so well put together. And I still think it looks great, even though its a fairly old game now.

Is the first boss the one with the numchucks? Do remember that being quite hard! Running up walls then jump attacking normal offers quite a nasty blow, and that dash move where you take thier head off! I found the 2nd level boss to be the hardest in the game! As you progress though it gets easier as you get use to the gameplay style and your weapons become better, I found the final boss pretty easy!

Time it so that when he makes his move, you roll out of his way but close enough to immediately get up and do serious damage to him. You will notice that some moves just don't work. Fine, don't use them.

Also, the charged attack (hold down strong or weak for one or two seconds and then let go and you sort of dash forward with the sword) is very effective if you perform it just as he moves forward at you.

I found the game incredibly tough at first, but the more I played, the more I adapted my play style, and eventually I found that the first levels were a walk in the park compared to what comes after (yup that second level boss is a bitch, but not the only one in the game! Level 7 - Alma - utterly annihalated my ass for a while).

Persevere, I finished the game, and I have to say it is one of the most pure and sweet gaming experiences I have ever had. The fighting engine is a thing of beauty.

The beauty if this game is that you have to genuinely strategise to overcome your enemy, not just mash all buttons like a monkey!

Do you have a 360 suarve? Why not just get the original? Or I think the game is backwards compatiable actually, check it out.

Thanks for the advice guys. Will see what I can do. I am not sleeping tonight until I beat the bugger!

And Suarve, if you got a 360, then get the game. I am not far into it, but am enjoying it... most games if I struggled like this I would give up. This guy has kicked my butt at least 20 times now, and I just keep going back for more :D

Just played the sigma demo, he was a tough basty considering its the first level - ended up using 2/3 health potions on fighting him alone. Really awesome fun though, another one to add to the to-buy list.

for the first boss i used the jumping homing decapitation attack, obviously it didnt decapitate him, but i just ran far enough away and jumped towards him pressing triangle till he was beat

I remember the EU version of this being censored or something along those lines, is this correct? If so is the US version uncensored?

You thought this was hard.... wait to till you face the normal enemies a few missions later!
The game is ridiculously hard!!

Probably my favourite game ever , it has no flaws.
The character control is utterly brilliant - so simple to pull of moves both in combat and transversing between objects. I dont think any game has topped this.

One other thing I remember was when I was in the same situation as you on Level One, I went back to the room where all the ninjas spawn and perfected my essence combos there, (you absorb one or two yellow essences and then you unleash an awesome special move), made enough money to buy a few potions and then I could take more of a beating and pass the level.

Essence combos in this game are essential. Make sure you get to know how to use them. Good luck, have fun and let us know how you got on :)

Edit: Hope you got some sleep ;)

Ok, well, I will probably need to restart the level. While I was getting used to the combat, I used all my potions fighting the normal guys, so I have been facing this guy without any potions. Have to say, have started doing pretty well against him, getting him down to less than half health.

Did not get to continue playing until I beat him, as the other half wanted to watch some tele. So inconsiderate.

Can you purchase potions at any point? If so, will just do that. Just figured you would need to reach certain points in game to be able to do that.

Eep...you may be right there, there is no shop on the first level! I do recall numerous trips to the bat section to restock on blue essence (restoring health). Good Luck!
