i don't know if it was those you were thinking about

Yep thats an S15 rare and expensive (imo). Also all imports iirc? Plenty of S13/S14s to be had though.

S14a's are a great car for the money. I had 3 before the skyline and tuned my last one to full HD stage 2 setup which left it a very capable comfy touring car that looked a bit slow....until at the traffic lights you can leave m3's and whatever else you come accross day to day.

just to summarise

there is a Car sold as the Nissan Silvia in Japan

it was imported over here for a while, and called the 200sx. It was stopped importing a few years ago. Most recent 200sx is the one pictured above. There are plenty of these cars around, you just need to look

what you wont find many of, is these :

silvia_s15_spec_r.jpg

the later model Silvia that isnt imported to this country

They are given internal designations at Nissan, with S13/s14 being different models, and S15 being the one above, that never came here.

Should be able to find plenty of S14s here though :)

the S15 would be even higher still because its jap import.

And for the UK cars, you're right, they're group 16 ish i think ?

The S13 200SX is a 1.8l turbo, CA18DET, ~170bhp. The S14/S14a/S15 is a 2.0 turbo, SR20DET, ~200bhp.

Insurance group 16/17 for the S13/S14/S14a, as the majority are official UK cars, sold via Nissan UK dealerships. The S15 is import-only - and as such, has a much higher insurance premium.

S14a are group 18 but are easily insrued considering.
The s14, s14a and the latest s15 all use the Sr20DET engine. The s14 and s14a are 197bhp. The s15 is import only but has a upgraded ball-bearing t28 allowing it to make 260bhp from standard.

Expect to pay about 4k for a tidy standard s14a up to about 6k for one with lots of toys. Expect to pay 9-11k for a fresh import s15. The s15 is also 6 speed.

s14/s14a are a good reliable car and the sr20det engine can take 350bhp on standard internals. Common little problems are the wing mount intercooler failing and cracking causing bosot leaks, easily fixed by fitting a FMIC that will set ya back about £200. They also like to eat turbo gaskets around 60k miles. Its a fairly hard job but can be done yourself the gaskets are £50. Clutches can be a a little weak too. Jsut HPI any you look at and pay good attention to the rear quarters and shut lines. I looked at a lot and most see a hedge or 2 backwards usually.. Shop about and get a ex company car. That way you will have a stamp every 6k miles which is there schedule. VVT rattle can also be a bit annoying as it sounds like a diesel if you get a bad one, but its not harming the engine at all and a new VVT sprocket can be bought from japan for about £300 which will solve it.
