Nissan 350z New Car Review (pictures included)

The 0-60 comment made me lol. Bit odd.

Ok point taken - 0 - 60 comment was a bit :stupid remark; The Audi TT 225 was just over 6.8 seconds for a 1.8l I think....

Today was my first real run in the car of motorway and dual carrage for a good 50 miles, yes i do take back that comment - the car is seriously quick

In keeping with the national speed limit of course.

It's almost like you are on a crusade about this though, why not just let people fit the tyres they want ?

In this weather I have no doubt that Falkens will be better and safer than the Bridgestones.

Meh, totally dependant upon the car. On the Cerbera the Falkens were fantastic. In the summer I never had a moment when I wished for more grip, and even in the winter I never had enough moments to make me consider changing them to anything else.

However, on the Jag it's a different matter entirely. They're adequate in the summer and in this weather they are like driving on ice (and when you ARE driving on ice you can forget moving altogether).

I bet the Falkens are well liked because people have convinced themselves they are amazing as they are easy on the pocket, in reality there are countless better tyres, though as a car ages the better tyres lose favour with the owners club as new owners become more budget concious and will seemingly stop at nothing to convince themselves and others that the cheap option is just as good as the more established performance tyres. Can't remember the last time somebody said 'Continental' on some of the BMW forums :(

Not all tyres work well on all cars. Suspension geometry, torque delivery, pressure, temperature, driving style and a whole host of other factors determine whether a tyre is good or not.

Also, it's worth pointing out that Falken's parent company, Sumitomo, are in partnership with Goodyear, and both companies own Dunlop. Falken is marketed as a UHP tyre in Japan and North America and has a lot to do with motorsports, racing a 350z in the 24 hours of Nurburgring last year (and are apparently entering a 911 GT3 R in this years event).

They're not really in the same stable as Linglong, Nankang and the like.
