Nissan GTR Official pics and info!

I'm loving that, thinking about possibly picking one up next, if the wife will let me.

The only thing I'm not 100% sure about is the nose, it looks a bit MG SV.

I like it.. Its not as aggressive looking as the R34 but it looks more modern and very sleek... And Mmmmmm Black Edition... ;)

No bayside blue tho but to be honest i dont think it would suit the car.

Yeah but the driver had no input, the car drove itself ;)

Correct.

As a technology showpiece it's to be commended, and there's no arguing with the figures, but will it be an involving driver's car? I seriously doubt it. Still, I guess that's the point.

It's an ugly mess too.

All GTR's have had a lot of technical gubbins but all of them still need skill to drive.. Dont listen to that gimp that used to be on Top Gear.. They still take a lot of driving and are VERY involving no matter who is controlling what.

Wrong, I've driven several. They are quite 'numb' feeling cars, and not as involving as a true sports car like the RX7 (to compare them to another 'jap beast', but I accept they are more GT than sports car). The GTS is actually better to drive than the GTR.

That's just your opinion though, it doesn't make him wrong.

You can't deny technoligical advancement. If you want a raw but powerful sports car there are still plenty about so you're in luck. But they are a dying breed. Even your average road car has ABS and traction control, plus stability systems now.

You can't say they are all worse off because of these, and the Skyline just does it better and did it first which is reflected in its motorsport history.

He's wrong to say they are 'VERY involving' and 'take a lot of skill to drive'. Niether of those statements are true.

Nope, not denying that atall. Like I said, from a techincal standpoint they are an impressive bit of kit.

For the average road car, such systems make sense. For a sports car? No thanks.

I don't really think we have got anything to argue about here TBH, we are both basically saying the same thing, the GTR is about technology, not ultimate driver involvement.

Whatcar states 60k which is carrera territory but it seems a bit pricey to me, we'll just have to see. Other sources say it will start in the region of 28 all the way to 55 for the basic model. Will you be keeping your P1? it is a P1 right? before i look like a fool.

I think the idea of the GTR is to be a cheaper but better 911 Turbo, so however "uninvolving" it may be, there is a market for this as porsche already proven with great success.

Yes there is an RS version of the porsche which is totally hardcore and definitely a drivers car, but that's what the GTR "evo" is going to compete with i guess.

The initial variations of the car for sale are only trim based, like interior and paint etc, the car itself remains the same. And since the marketing strategy is to release the stock version (GTR) followed by the finely tuned version slighty tweaked version (Vspec 1 and 2, Nur), which is then ultimately followed by the omgwtfpwn (there were no other words i could find) version (Z-Tune), i think there is more to come.

Still not sure about the front though, i thought the earlier photos of this car were chopped because of the front ripple folds on the front bumper. For some reason i prefer the black masked version that's actually not the real mask but just a black bumper over all the other ones......

Also does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and 8.2 km/l which i think equates to 25 mpg.

Since when has a 911 been uninvolving?

ALL 911s are renowned for being great drivers cars, even the vanilla 'non hardcore' versions.

The uninvolving bit i was refering to your earlier post about the GTR and not the porsche, sorry if it comes across that way, i guess i need to make my sentences clearer.
