Brief background first, i'm due to start my industiral placement in July this year, from where I live it's a 15-20 mins drive, 90% A-Road, 10% B-Road.

My Mum has been very kind and has offered me her Micra on a loan whilst i'm doing this so I don't have to fork out for a car....but me being me i've been looking anyway.

I've always fancied a Primera GT, my Dad has one and I just really like it. I've looked and the insurance would be ~£150-£200 more on the Primera GT than a Micra 1.2, and you can pick one up for ~£1,500 now as no one appears to want them.

Was wondering if anyone has any experiance of Primera GTs, anything to look for especailly?

If you were in my position, would you fork out the extra £200 on insurance and get a car that is a lot better?

Thanks for the replies!

I think it's a bit of a no brainer tbh, I might even see if my Dad wants rid of his for a bargain price :p

A friend bough tone not long ago and for the cash they are great.

He tested it with my Gtech thingy the other week and think he said it was around 8.4secs, it's not exactly a small car either :)

shame it's front wheel drive.

still nice though.

I fancied one after selling the skyline. ended up with a 1.6 Escort

You went from a skyline to a 1.6 escort  dude that must suck big time.. :(

The GT is nice :) enough power easy to get ya going and a strong engine.. fairly cheap also :) go for it :P

I had one from new as a company car (99T) -did 127 K in it over four years without a single problem and nothing but regular services!
When it went back I really missed it and think it was the best car I have ever had!
I currently have an Accord 2.4 Type S and I still think the Primera GT was a better car!

I looked into these a bit when I was buying a car last year. Ive had a Nissan Micra, and seriously with Nissans as long as they have been serviced properly and the bodywork has been cared for they are pretty bulletproof.
