Nissan to close plant sparking anger!

Ok but who told you it was UK factories closing?

I get job losses anywhere aren't great but surely it's better for the UK economy that Spanish plants close and not British ones?

Unless of course this is a subtle dig at the remainers saying we'd lose all manufacturing after Brexit, in which case maybe you should try and be a little bit more clearer as only 1 other person has picked up on it if thats what was meant.
Really? That's all the news banged on about leading up to brexit

I seem to remember a lot of disdain directed towards Sunderland and the fact they had voted leave would mean Nissan would definitely be closing and what idiots they were.
Quite! You will be telling me next they want access to our fishing, I was told the we had nothing to offer.

The plant was/is the most efficient car plant in Europe, I believe. Makes sense to keep and consolidate production there.

There were lots of people writing off the plant and city after Brexit. “Turkeys voting for Christmas”, was one particular phrase used as I recall. That was one of the more polite ones.

Ok I thought we were all lazy!

Im a bit late to this discussion, but there was a promise from Theresa May to cover the losses from brexit with government funding to protect the UK manufacturing. This was when Carlos Ghosn was still about and talking directly with the PM.

I suppose the big question about such a strategy is, how much more are we losing by keeping the factory and jobs here.
