How do you know they went there with the naivety that nothing could/would happen to them? Are you seriously blaming the victim?

Point aside this pretty much sums up Africa,

Until Africa wants to help its self there's pretty little we can do.

Africa is beyond help.

We should freeze all payments to them till they sort themselves out.

I know that will of course mean that the normal working people suffer for it, but maybe that will make them rise up agaisnt the corrupt country that they live in.

That would be like saying Europe is beyond help because of one or two poverty stricken countries.

Edit: I know this is probably a pretty poor example, as the problems of Africa are on a larger scale than those of other continents.

Africa is a continent not a country, "Third World" is also a pretty derogatory term not to mention being phased out since the fall of communism as it has little value any more.
