Not sure if this has already been posted, but couldn't find anything....

In an interview, Chris Pickford, Associate Producer for Bizzare has stated that new cities or tracks in PGR3 are not feasible due to size issues.

What a load of balls. I am getting a bot bired of the tracks and was really looking forward to some new tracks, or even holding out for the hope that they might just convert some of the old PGR2 cities for PGR3.

Not good :(

Not in 1 go...

However, he did not state whether they would release tracks at a later date, they could possibly release say 7 tracks from 1 city over a period of 6 months, when you have them all you could create a route?

The only thing they said was, releasing 1 whole city in 1 go was a no go because of file size.

Personally I would be happier with seperate tracks, I wasn't a big fan of the route creator.

Meh, I've just about given up on PGR3 anyway. Think I'll trade it in this week, I haven't even played it since Christmas apart from trying the tournament qualification this morning.

The problem is that to release a whole city they probably have to package up all the artistic real estate in one go so they cant really release it in small chunks. Its a shame but with the size of demo's atm heading over a gig a piece there must be a huge chunk of the 360 userbase who wouldn't mind the download....

As for the game itself, I'm in the same boat, with little time on the 360 atm it isnt high up on the play list unfortunately and online got boring just because of the idiots who came on just to ruin races.....

Not at all, they would only have to release the necessary textures for each track. If you pass buildings that aren't visable it wouldn't be necessary to download them, they could simply use billboards.

Or, you could purchase it through Xbox Live! and they could send out CD's which would install it on your Xbox 360 which wouldn't be too hard to do.

What annoys me is the catering to the memory unit crowd, it's annoying. Just make the damn thing hard drive required :(
It is quite limiting I know, but I don't think they would be with cities.
Much like how Sega released Football Manager for HDD only (how Memory Unit users thought they would be able to play this I'll never know).

My apologies I wasn't clear enough, I meant all the real estate for the track in question. Even with only one track the sheer number of textures and models required would result in a large file which as has been pointed out doesn't cater to those on Core systems. This combined with future cases like this will likely point out the mistake M$ made making the HDD optional.

People are missing the main point raised in the interview. Making a new city is massive amounts of work. It would take months of work for a dozen artists etc to make another one, and is simply not worth it. They are better off doing other things. Perhaps extending existing cities (if possible) creating smaller one off tracks, say silverstone etc rather than a brand new big city.

As for converting a PGR2 city, think about guys, you would be the first to say how bad it looked, and they should have redone it so it looks better, and so back at the point above.

I think the problem also comes down to the size of the HDD we have to play with. We've already got demos that are 1GB+. If every game like PGR3 released a sizable update, like a whole new city, then we'd be running out of space on that 20GB HDD that realistically only has 15GB to start with anyway.

I'd much prefer the developers to take their time a little more on the games and put the cities / weapons / cars / characters / detail into the DVD, before the game comes out, and not have to worry as much about bringing out new stuff.

Same here. Haven't touched it since xmas. I think I'll stick it on MM over the next few days.

Even that's asking quite a lot if it were to look good.

I can't believe people saying they don't play the game anymore either

I only have PGR3 and GRAW and I know what I prefer to play more for fun.

It also seems PGR3 has a lot more online Live use from 360 owners too compared to other games I've played a bit or seen played on Live.

I haven't touched it for months either. Once you get over the visuals, it's not that special really.

ditto, they left so much out that really its abit of a con to call it PGR3, maybe this will be sorted with PGR4 and hopefully test drive unlimited giving them some competition
