No one uses Fermi for Gaming!

it isnt totaly impossible to belive as most people my nvidia for folding and CAD as they support CUDA and nvidia hardware better being my self i think the fermi chip is the best bit of gaminga hardware as i have 3x470's spread across 2 systems and think there miles ahead due to the high minimum frames they give just my 2cents :p

i think theres more companies using nvidia for CAD than people using nvidia for games. That doesnt mean i think theres no nvidia gamers.

I think its safe to say there hasnt been a good reason to upgrade to the latest and greatest cards in the last couple years. Cards from 2-3 years ago are still doing fine in the games that are released now and steam stats reflect that. I think those that want 32x aa, 16x af and 120 min fps are in the minority for sure ;)

Only a small percentile of PC gamers actually ever upgrade their rigs with anything more than a extra hard drive. It's not surprising to see lots of old cards still be use. Heck, my card's 3 generations back so no DX11 capability.

Corsa's are driven more than Bugati Veyrons. Are Corsa's better ?

Yes, far better. Cheaper to buy, run, use, insure, far more practical, better fuel econo.

I could go on and on, you get the point.

Please avoid relating cars to computer parts. It makes baby jesus cry. :(

AMD enjoyed the first DX11 cards on the market and they hit at affordable prices and had a good seven months of the market to themselves, it's no surprise they have a decent market share. This time next year The DX11 market share will be much more even.

I will stop relating cars to computer parts if you never again say a Corsa is better than a Veyron. I just don't want anyone to snigger at you behind your back.

Might link to this thread next time there is a 'consoles holding back PC gaming' topic in the other forum. 8800s and 4850s are only about powerful enough to get 45+ fps on console class conversions @ 1080p + 4xaa. If more than half of the relatively small volume of PC gamers have 3 year out of date kit they are also equally 'holding' up PC gaming.

Its not really hard to see why developers dont want to spend that much extra jazzing up textures and altering base design.
