Remember, when you buy the bike on the 1st October, you will need to pay tax on that too, as any current tax that is on it will be removed upon change of owner.

Take it down the day before? or just chance it, it's not a weekend so unlikely to be police around bike shops/routes.

Is it worth doing a full years tax then getting 11/12ths of that back? Which works out best?

I would so definitely risk that. Paying £7 of tax to drive for 25 minutes is just a waste of everybody's time.

Nope, he thought he had 30 minutes left in his insurance but it had run out the night before.

Think I'd take the chance riding the bike a few miles without tax the day after it ran out.
