No sites loading on data except Google and Youtube unless I use VPN.. ideas?

Noticed this today. On my Xperia Z2 no websites will load when using the data (I'm on T-mobile/EE). However I can search via google fine and all apps seem to work fine (Facebook, Google Play music, Reddit, IRC) just Chrome and Firefox won't load sites.

Same result when tethered unless I use a VPN :\

Any ideas?

Reboot, likely a network gateway / DNS issue with EE.

are you using chrome or the standard browser?

Rebooted a few times yesterday, didn't resolve it. Tried using Firefox as well as Chrome, same result. Don't have the default browser enabled.

I could have sworn it was working for a short period last night but alas, today same problem

Same issue if on wifi / 3g / 4g? if this is only on network data do you have any adult filter type things enabled at the network end?

Not if on wifi.

I appear to have resolved it by changing the APN setting to iPv4/IPv6. It was previously just IPv4. But I have no idea why that would happen when previously okay.
