Right this is going to be hard to explain so I will try and simplify things hopefully

This was my set up before things went wrong

LG CX TV
SKY Q
BT 4k box
PS5
Sharp HT-SBW460 Soundbar
PC

Soundbar connected via ARC HDMI port on TV
SKY Q hdmi to TV
PS5 hdmi to TV
PC hdmi to TV

All the above would have sound via the soundbar with the soundbar set to hdmi ARC, sound would all switch automatically between devices

Then the BT box was connected via hdmi to soundbar hdmi 1. I then had to select hdmi 1 on soundbar to get sound for BT.

Everything worked fine.

Recently I got rid of the BT box as I ended my contract, I have it via my phone contract now but as the LG doesnt have the BT sport app I got a Amazon Fire TV cube which I set up today.

Everything set up fine bar finding the soundbar but after skipping some stuff it all seemed to work fine, sound from the soundbar when using the Fire TV Cube.

Later on though I discovered that the TV was using its internal speakers when watching Sky, also the PS5 and PC and now I just can't get any sound from the soundbar for these devices. Fire TV Cube the sound is working via the soundbar.

I have tried various things and have determined I can get sound through the soundbar via these methods

Just the Soundbar connected to TV via ARC, (no sky,PS5 or PC hdmi leads connected to TV ) All the TV apps have sound via soundbar, Netflix, Amazon etc. If I connect the other devices to TV then no sound via soundbar on TV apps unless these are turned off.

Soundbar connected to TV via ARC, Sky connected to soundbar hdmi 1 (same for PS5, PC) I have sound via soundbar.

I just can't get sound anymore via my previous set up, made sure all TV settings are right, soundbar settings etc. Ive turned the Fire cube off totally, took hdmi cable out and still no joy.

Anyone got any ideas if you can make any sense of the above.

With the soundbar plugged into the earc port, can you make sure these settings are set on the TV and try again:

Sound out: HDMI ARC

Additional settings:

DTV Audio Setting: Auto

HDMI input audio format: Bitstream

Digital sound out: pass through

eARC: Enabled
Yes all these are set but still no joy.

Not sure whats going on, everything will work if I use the soundbar as the HDMI switch, plugging the other devices into the SB but it won't work now having everything in the TV HDMI's, its almost like the HDMI ARC isn't working on the TV but the port must be fine as I get sound via the soundbar when watching the TV apps if every other device is off which wasn't the case before.

I have tried other HDMI leads also so they are all working

Try 1 device at a time in a HDMI port (use same port) and see if you can get sound from it. Disable and re-enable earc as well with the device plugged in and maybe try change digital sound out to auto.
Everything working again now, thanks.

Not sure what it was, only weird thing now is the SKY Q box wouldn't register at all in HDMI 4 on the TV, other devices will work in HDMI 4 and Sky works fine in other ports so no idea what that is about but currently I'm back up and running as before.

Pass haha. Possible the deep colour thing may have caused some issues if the Sky box is set in UHD 8/10 bit.

It's usually arc/earc or cec issues that are the biggest culprits though.
So I'm still having issues with sound loss.

I've tried everything possible, different cables, ports etc but the sound will be fine for 30 minutes or so but then it will just revert back to TV speakers on its own, soundbar stays on though but no sound.

Thought it was the Sky box as it was doing on there all the time so got a new HDMI cable but same thing happened. Then it started doing it on the PS5 also.

I've sort of got it working by going from Sky Q box hdmi to soundbar but there is still an issue where the TV will just switch to internal speakers, but now I get sound from TV speakers and soundbar.

So maybe the TV is the issue, perhaps the ARC port is faulty and dropping signal but then I dont have issues at all watching Netflix app on TV so I have no idea what is going on.
