I stupidly threw out unused cooler parts some time ago thinking I'd only ever use the thing for for the X99 platform.
Now upgrading, but using same cooler - seems i am now missing a required backplate for LGA1151.
Will any third party 115x replacement backplate be ok for mounting the D15?
Only asking instead of going back to Noctua support as if I'm quick i can get one delivered for Monday.

Thanks.

No. You need a proper Noctua-specific one. The mounting hardware wouldn't work at all without the right backplate, since the retention bars are mounted onto it at a specific height.

Noctua will send you the kit for free. You don't even need a receipt. Just tell them what happened and send them an image of your D15 with a handwritten note with today's date and your email addy on it. They send stuff quick.

I got the d15 too and wondered about am4 socket, 2066, ect if I upgrade. This sounds good if they are that helpful I might not need to get a new cooler for a long time.
Glad I went with Noctua now, as the only reason at first was the fact they could keep up with most AIO.
