Personally I've been looking to upgrade my cooling soon and I noticed the launch of the new Noctua cooler. Wondered what people thought of this.

Said to be out very soon. Will be interesting to see how it compares vs some of the other offerings currently available. The only Noctua I've ever owned is the NH-U12F but since moving to LGA1366 had to dish it. It was an awesome cooler, loved it!!

Looking forward to seeing the reviews when they come in. Will update the thread with links.

So what do y'all think of this?

I had the NH-U12F too, still have it on a 775 machine, but using a H50 now instead. Also have a NH-U12P SE2, not sure whether to swap it for the H50 or to sell and grab a NH-D14!

The NH-C14 is a good choice if you have space constraints, but at about the same price as the NH-D14, it's not the best performer.

Sahil over at Vortez has just reviewed this cooler today, he has some good thoughts and numbers if you want to take a look! Not to mention lots of pretty Noctua pictures!

Review here.

That D14 looks like a gargantuan. If you have the space... go for it!! I don't lol.

Thanks for the linky I have added this along with an Austrian review too. :)

Wow looks expensive. I don't know how it can sell for the same price as D14 when it clearly doesn't perform similar. It almost looks as though its for a different purpose to the D14. Lower profile tends to be for HTPC or like you said space constraints.

Still reading the review you posted, some good info in there!

Go with the D14 Alex :) You know you want too :)

Just check the clearance sizes with your P182SE first matey

Agree with the Op that the C14 is clearly aimed at the HTPC power user and not really the enthusiast Midi/Tower case brigade.

Thermalright silver arrow is cheaper and better than the D14.

And slightly bigger as well :) had to shoe horn mine into a DF-85 with millimeters to spare... but very nice!!!! :)

performance wise it just has the edge on a D14 but the D14 is a lot easier to fit :)

Thanks for posting the review Alex! It's a shame the C14 lost out so badly when overclocked but apart from that, it does its job well and as mentioned, it is targeting people who need low profile coolers.

As for which cooler to get Alex, I'd highly recommend the Silver Arrow. It's slightly more efficient than the Noctua but can be had for much cheaper. In the review the Noctua did perform slightly better but you'll see that the Thermalright comes bundled with Thermalright Chill Factor III which is better than the CF2 I used when testing the coolers. Really though, you can't go wrong with either. Noctua aftersales service is brilliant though and you get what you pay for.

Btw OP, it's VorteZ not VorteX :P

Oh believe me, I want to!

The clearance shouldn't be a problem in the P182, it's a big case. Lots of people have reported no issues, which is good. Don't have particularly tall RAM either - G.Skill Ripjaws. Seem to fit with enough clearance.

My only reservation is that the PC does get moved around every 3 months or so in the car. For this reason, the H50 seems to suit a bit better.

Once the cooler is fitted I don't think it will be moving far if the fixtures are anything like the Silver Arrow. You can run into it with a Challenger tank and it would'nt budge!!

Memory serves me right, when I saw your case last, it was wide enough to accommodate a tall cooler. You can move the fans up as well to get clearance on the RAM if you really needed to.

I've never really had an issue moving my PC around with the NH-D14 installed. Just make sure your PC list flat so the cooler isn't hanging off. :)

You can always uninstall it prior to moving since it takes minutes to do so.

Apologies Sir. I have corrected this now.

There are a few more reviews out on this cooler but they mostly seem to be Austrian so German written. When the english ones are out I will update thread with more then we can have a better assumption about the C14. So far from reading it seems a good low profile cooler

I have updated the thread with some additional reviews that have surfaced. Also removed the Austrian one now that we have english reviews floating about. :)
