Anyone know if this will fit the board, the CPU socket on this board looks to be a bit less central than on say a DS3. Also no idea what the back looks like to see if the backing plate will fowl on anything.

Think you will be ok, my DS3R has a Thermalright 120 on it and there is plenty of room for it.

just a note, recently came across a thread where this cooler was causing a short on the mobo iirc, and it required insulation tape to be put over the bottom of the screws, might be worth remembering in case u get start up issues.

EDIT : details posted by richdog

Basically the backplate is shorting the mobo, the foam protection isn't enough and the pins are sticking right through. You need to take it off and stick about 3 to 4 layers of electrical tape around it where it will be pressing against your mobo. Bingo, it'll boot.

I have this set up and have had no trouble with it shorting out the motherboard, just set it up as the instructions said and it was fine :)

Hi,
I fitted the noctura to my ds3r on tuesday, no tape needed. One thing I really wasn't sure about was whether to remove the plate that holds the cpu in place on the motherboard. In the noctura instructions it give vague mention to removing the retaining plate. I decided to leave it on and all seems okay, just wondering if I did the right thing.
