Hi, ive just installed this noctua NH-U12P on an asus P6TD deluxe following the instructions etc, and having screwed the springy final screws down as far as they go the bottom of the heatsink is not actually touching the CPU!

In fact its barely touching the line of TIM ive put on the i7.

Have i done something wrong!?? Surely this is not right. Nothing will tighten up anymore than it is atm.

Should I perhaps not have used the black plastic spacers??

something wrong somewhere i have the same cooler and board and have had no problems with the heatsink not making good contact with the cpu, that's using the plastic spacers included, suggest removing all parts and staring again mate and seeing how you go on it does fit okay though on that board..

When you attached those mounting bracets to the heatsink did you attach them to the top or bottom? From what I remember of fitting mine they went on top. Make sure you have them on the right side or I imagine this could be the problem. I wouldnt leave the plastic spacers off either, they are there for a reason.

That has just made me think you may have the mounting brackets the wrong way round,on the mounting bracket there is a flat side and a side that is channelled the channelled side has to face upwards in the direction you will be screwing the heatsink down. Also the fastening brackets need to sit on top of the heatsink and not below as has been said above..
