Noisy Neighbours

talk to them maybe. Remember Jesus said "Love Thy Neighbour" The man had a point too hence why society has neglected getting to know those who live next door to them.

Otherwise get a dog and set it loose :D

I have spoken to them on a number of occasions to no avail.

Had the exact same problem, I own the flat, the flat above me is rented, they have a habit of jumping around screaming until all hours of the morning.

Fortunately when the Landlord put the flat up for lease he gave me his contact details before the tenants moved in. Gave him a phone call and asked him to have a word, problem solved.

I would have gone and asked them my self, but my fuse is pretty short at 2am :o

Either way - you sound like an idiot.

Well you should just impress upon that neighbour that their music is not acceptable to you and everyone else. Does it bother other neighbours?
Regardless - confront the noisy neighbour. Just knock on their door and tell them that their noise is bothering you.

If I see them i'll just ask them could they turn the bass down a little, it used to be every so often but it seems to be more often now. Why don't the neighbours above me complain or the one below the guy, I have no idea

There should be law that ceilings/floors in apartments should have to conform to a certain level of sound insulation, in my place you can even hear a kettle being boiled above me at night :p

Victorian Flat here, used to be a youth hostel.

A real nasty history to it aswell, it's probably haunted :D

It's not 'if' you see them.

Front up to them. Knock the door and tell them.

Don't wait for others to do it.

I promise you - if you go round and knock the door they will take your point and respect you more.

I don't remember ever reading something like this, here or elsewhere, with a happy ending where the problem was solved without one party moving away.

Anyone got an anecdote where it has happened?

Errr... noisy neighbours?

"I don't remember ever reading something like this, here or elsewhere, with a happy ending where the problem was solved without one party moving away."

What?

It's a lovely sentence, don't get me wrong...

Oh, ok.

What I mean is I've seen a few threads like this where noisy neighbours are a problem, but I don't remember ever seeing one where the result was "So we had a chat and laughed it off and they've been quiet ever since" or "So the council came round and since then it's all been fine".

It's usually " We had a chat and things got worse and we now get abuse " and " The council got involved and said it wasn't bad enough to take action "

Right. Getcha now.

Can't really add anything useful other than commiserations. Some folk are just incredibly heavy on their feet. I had a nice enough couple above me for four years, but they could barely breathe without making a racket. It was fairly soul destroying at times, especially as I work nights.

When they finally moved out I nearly cried with relief. I then chewed my fingernails until the next person moved in. And he's been a real star. I barely know he's there most of the time. Fate owed me that though IMO. :->

Ultimately some folk "get" living in flats, and that it's like sharing one big house. Others -- as shown in similar threads here throughout the years -- see it as their personal kingdom to do with as they please with little concern for the neighbours. I try to remember mine in everything I do, but that's not the way many folk think.

Try to use this as motivation to improve your situation in life. There's a reason why folk work hard to buy decent houses (or even just to rent them). It's a lesson I wish I'd learned back when I was much younger and had more options.

Good luck.
