Nokia 6230i runs out of memory after 10 texts - what the????

the 6230i should be able to hold more than 100 texts in your inbox, the 10 text limit is usually only for the sim card. As for the texts going to the memory card thats not possible with 6230i. Have you tried resetting it back to factory settings? Also what firmware are you running?

Took phone into nokia centre - they said software was borked on it - so I got a nokia 6233 in return - so far a nicer phone.... I did have pay £50 more for it....

oooooh nice! Was the 6230i a contract handset or payg? I would have thought that they would just reflash the firmware.

It was on PAYG!

When I got the new 6233 the sales person said I should go contract as it will be cheeper.... so she got out her calculator to prove it.

It worked out to be only £20 cheeper over the year to go contract... for less free mins and texts (I get about 250xmins and 300texts for £15 on PAYG per month)....

She agreed its best to keep what Im on lol

your a lucky guy, most places wouldnt offer a replacement, especially not a 6233. Its a very nice phone, got mine a few days back and its a huge step up from the 6230i esp with the lovely screen and dual speakers

yeah its a great phone - prob best Ive seen. But its got a few bugs - eg ringtones always start quiet and get louder(even when u dont set it up that way) sometimes forgets which tone Ive selected and goes back to defult.

Texting is not as fast as 6230i as it does not guess the word - only has T9.

But the speaker volume is soooo loud - its like one of those ipod external speakers u can buy....

If you have selected the highest volume for the ringtone, it will always do this. It's not a bug, it's so that the phone doesn't suddenly spring into life at the highest volume, giving you or anyone else a massive shock. It starts lower for the first 5 seconds, and then switches up the highest volume. Nearly all Nokia phones do this.

i didnt know all nokias did that. certainly theres an option to select a rising ringtone, which is normall when you press up again after selecting the highest volume on the nokias, but certainly they arent supposed to do it when set to the plain jane loudest setting.

If you select "ringing" instead of "rising" as the ringer type it comes on loud... this works on my nokia 7600.

Nope, even if you select just ringing, if you have the highest volume selected, it will start off lower and then go higher. Did that at least on my 8800, and on my current 6233.

BTW, if you select 'ascending' as the ring type, it starts off at a much lower volume, and increases more slowly than the 'ringing' method. The ringing method only starts off lower and goes higher if you select the very highest volume level.

Ok it just does this with some nokia phones - all my nokia's have never done this!

my 8800's both ring at full vol straight from the word go, i think the 6233 maybe sorted out with a firmware upgrade, i hope they have one soon as the phone does seem to crash a lot at times
