I've just changed phones and want to sell my 6680 - a friend of mine might be interested in buying it but has an o2 2g PAYG sim-card. I had to get an o2 3g sim card when I got the phone so I'm not sure if his sim-card will work - any ideas?

Yes should work no problem. If its locked tough might not work with a PATG sim.

If its locked to 3 it wont work on any other network as 3 do something to thier handsets. If its locked to any other netwrok im faorly sure they are not unlockable at the moment.

Best look out for one from an 02 or voda contract as they come sim free

This is not true. Why do people say these things if they don't know, lol! You will have to get an unlocked or sim free one. Some Voda and O2 handsets are supplyed sim free either if they are new handsets out or sometimes if they are supplyed by places such as CPW.

3 disable the frequency selection option. So whereas on unlocked 3G handsets you can select between 3G network only, 2G network only or dual-mode, 3 locks their phones to dual-mode. This means the phone will first try to find a 3G signal, then a 2G signal if it can't find one. If you have a 2G only sim card, it means the phone will occassionally drop the signal while searching for a 3G connection, then reconnect again. IE, not ideal at all.
