Hi guys,

Had my Nokia N73 a year now. Bored, want a change. Ideally want an N95 8Gb or an N81 but neither appear to be out yet and I'm sick of waiting for them.

As well as something stuffed with loads of cool gadgets I'll never use, I like phones that feel classy and well built. The N73 is great, but feelts a bit cheap. I used a Nokia E65 today and it felt much nicer - slimmer, stronger, and nicer.

How does it compare with my N73? I am under the impression it effectively IS a Nokia N73, only with added wifi, a worse camera, and a slider.

Is this the case?

I don't know how much they've improved the slider in the N95 8Gb but once you've used the E65 the slider on the N95 would drive you nuts.
The E65 is a really great phone that really they should have stuck a headphone socket on and sold under the N series brand instead, the shape, size and construction, combined with S60 make it one of my favourite current phones. Just waiting to see how prevalent the N81 becomes or wait for the Nokia iPhone imitator.

The N95 8gb has shipped and will be available in stores in under 2 weeks now so not long to wait (slider is vastly improved). Id get that, you wont regret it. The E65 isnt a bad phone, quite basic, yes it has wifi and the camera isnt as good. Personally I'd wait for the N95 8gb its a beauty.

I'd be tempted with the N95, but I'd wait to see if the "improved" 1350 battery actually makes that much of a difference. However, all in all I'm starting to lose faith with Nokia and their Symbian driven phones. My N73 random locks up, restarts and does all sorts of funky things particularly when going into camera mode and switching around between that and video.

I'm really tempted to hold out for the W960i to see if that's any better, but rumour has it that's slow and buggy too :(

N81 is looking promising mind. Wifi, 8gb and supposedly a decent battery life. Remains to be seen though I guess.

what networks?

Not sure, sorry. It shipped so will be available, thats all I know.

edit/ Its coming on '3', definitely wont be on Orange, I suspect it will on o2 but not sure about Voda or T Mobile.

argh! so many decisions. contract up with 3 in a few weeks, was dead set on getting vario3 on tmob, but they have no 3G coverage here at uni, 3 do though, was originally wanting w960i, now might just wait for n95 8gb and maybe get that!

Argh! I want it on T-Mob, if not will need to look at 3's Coverage in my area. :(

lol nope thats 1 poor excuse for a phone im def not interested in :)

Its almost worth it for surfing the internet alone - its so so great for this and this alone! Then again the ipod touch could be used for this.

Fox definately keep looking at the E series, they're aimed at business' and generally have a better build quality and feel about them. They're usually something different the mainstream don't have either (if you're like me and like to be a little different). I'm looking forward to the E51, it's tiny, pretty standard looking i wont lie (it's aimed at business). Full of features and if it's anything like my E60 you will not be disappointed.

//Edit didn't mention you can't go wrong with a bit of stainless steel for build quality either!

N95 8Gb isnt coming to Orange? Ever? Is this the same with the N81? Why is this?

I'm leaving Orange if this is the case but my Contract isn't up until May (Stupid 18 months). Think what I will do is get an N95 or an E65 to tied me over until Feb or so, then pay off the Orange contract and get an N95 8Gb on a proper network.

I am not 100% sure, but I think its to do with the same issues as the N81 - but no one is 100% sure if Orange wont stock it, so it could be ok. If I have a choice between the E65 and N95, I'd go for the E65 in the interrim - its cheaper and will hold you out fine until Feb.

On another site there is an "unboxing" of an N95 8GB, with a review soon to follow.

The comments on the free RAM and extra multitasking abilities this gives are the most interesting. :D

(Wont link to site as it is just bound to be against ocuk rules for one reason or another. lol ;))
