Right, I have a brand new N70, with the latest firmware from nokia, I am hoever having a fairly major issue with it.

Fairly regularly, when I try and make a call, the device will hang for a while then state 'Connection Error'. Now, I know there is full signal in the area I am trying as I could use my previous phone there without problem. Has anyone else seen this problem or shed any light on possibl causes?

Thanks for the help.

i know this an extremely old post, but im having major problems with my N70, same problems as you mentioned, can anyone shed any light on what it is, about to pick up the phone to orange and see whats going on, Just wanted to see if there is a way to get round it first.

ok seemed to have fixed it at long last!

just incase anyone else has this problem.. Try going to Tools/Settings/Network, and change network mode from "Dual Mode" to "GSM", and then back to "Dual Mode". This seemed to work for me!

Connection error usually occurs when there is not enough network capacity to route your call via the 3g network, although 3g signal is strong.

Each 3g cell can only handle a certain number of simultanous connections (calls/text/data), and if there are none available, you will get connection error. (Nokia's 3g software only switches to GSM due to lack of signal, not lack of capacity).

You can try turning the phone off, or switching to GSM, and the call will normally complete afterwards :)
