Nokia N95 Maps question...newbie alert !

I'm trying to get the Gps working on my son's N95. He has no memory card (only his phone memory). I've got Gmaps downloaded and installed, but it always wants an internet connection. As it is such a small download, does this mean you have to have the phone internet connected in order to view your GPS position on the map.

Yep, Google maps streams all its data over the phone's internet connection. I don't think there's any way to pre-load map data like you can with Nokia's Map app.
