Hi all, I've done a bit of googling but I can't seem to find any definitive answers- does anyone know any models of Nokia coming out this year? I only ask because I'm starting to get a little frustrated with my iPhone and am fondly remembering my N95's ability to actually list appointments on my main screen- presumably Nokias will continue to use Symbian (and I'll admit to liking the N97) so it seems these will be the thing to look out for for me personally.

Anyone know what's due?

Looks quite nice, though I would imagine there'll be something else on its way out by the time I'm far enough through my contract to consider buying it out.

I've just spied the Xperia X10 from Samsung which is looking pretty sweet, I had the X1 for just under a week and utterly hated it...

There's the X6 on its way out at the moment, which is an updated 5800 with capacitative screen and 5mp camera.

Nokia will a few new handsets in Barcelona in February. I don't think it would be too ridiculous to expect a touch-screen imaging platform (i.e. n87), a slate Maemo device and perhaps an e75 refresh and e-series touch device. Nokia stated in their capital markets day that they expect about 90% of their smartphone portfolio to be touch, qwerty or both by q4 '10 (up from about 50% now), so that should give you some idea of what they're planning.

Additionally, Maemo 6 should land in the second half of the year, so perhaps expect an n900 refresh to be announced later in the year.

The N900 release has been very muted, but it is good and Maemo should be replacing symbian as it goes into 2011, certainly in the high-end devices. Expect several maemo devices in 2010 as well.

edit: the N900 is resistive and is far from pants, I find it an excellent screen on mine, fine for use without the stylus

I was under the impression that there was only going to be one Maemo device in 2010. The idea being that it's easy to support and market one uber-device than twenty segmented devices.

Seft is 100% correct though. Expect Nokia to make their big announcements at the World Mobile Conference in February.

The N920 may be out next around July. Using Maemo 6, capacitive screen and apparently keyboardless. Also Nokia is completely revamping S60 so by the 2nd half of the year a whole raft of new phones are supposed to be coming out.

Can see Nokia sneeking out a couple of bits of Maemo stuff, just like they have with the N900. They just seem unsure of it as a platform as symbian has been with them for so long. Like an old grandfather they just won't put in a home, even though he stinks of pee, thinks it's 1951 and threatens to gut the postman.

The revamped Symbian looks much improved..The issue with Symbian has been poor programmer support (supposedly being fixed with QT integration), speed and dated GUI. Whether or not they actually deliver remains to be seen.. Also Nokia have cut back on the number of phone releases for 2010 quite considerably so a sneaky Maemo device might not be on the cards unfortunately (however maybe good for us existing N900 owners;)).

Maemo 6 is scheduled for H2 2010. This almost certainly never means July :)

Nokia's future strategy at the CMD suggested about 10% of their portfolio in 2010 would be Maemo, so given that they have about 45 phones available (and that they plan to reduce this), this suggests 3-5 Maemo devices by end 2011. Assuming that the N900 is discontinued by then, that suggests 1-2 devices this year and 2-3 next year.

Xperia X10 is an SE phone :) I am torn between that and a nokia n900

The x10 looks like (spec's wise) a HTC Touch 2 on android with an 8mp camera. And although both communities seem to have a buz at the min, the google backed android has me edging that way some things in he pipe line at google for mobiles this year.
