My standard 172 alloys are looking a little worn, nothign bad just some kerbing but it's enough to bug me.

Now do I fork out for a good refurb, which could cost me £50-60 per wheel, plus the inconveniance of having it done, and keep my originals or do I get a set of OZ Ultraleggeras? If I went down the refurb route I'd have to buy anothe rsecond hand set of standard alloys, have them refurbed, then sell my old ones, as I can't have the car with no wheels for more than a few hours :(

I love the ultras and they are also about 3 or 4 kilos lighter than the stock alloys.

But I find more often than not sticking aftermarket alloys on most cars makes them look cheap and tacky.

Just for reference, standard alloys (OZ F1 Cups)

Or OZ Ultraleggera in silver (or possibly matt black)

Have obv. got caps for the F1 Cups, wonder if they fit the other wheels :)

The other option of course is do nothing, leave them a little kerbed, save the cash to put towards a new car. Also forgot to say the Ultraleggeras are about £440 delivered.

Sticking cheap heavy alloys on a car = lose

Sticking expensive, lightweight OZ's on a car = win

If you're going to do something, do it properly!

Turinis are ok, but they've been done to death on 172s and they are heavier than the Ultraleggeras.

The OZ are apparently 4.9-5 kilos a corner, the Turinis are 7.5 kilos.

I wanted the rota's but not right pcd and its non-jap!!

Love the ozs though! Can't decide what to get myself.
