Hi folks,

I have managed to OC my rig to 2.88 with the following hardware and setup:

MSI Platinum 975x (latest bios)
E6600
Noctua NH-U12F
Corsair CM2X1024-6400 x2
OCZ 600w GameXStream
MSI 7900 GTO
Tsunami Dreams case

FSB - 320Mhz
CPU volts - 1.42v
FSB:RAM - 1:1
RAM timings - 5,5,5,12
RAM volts - 2.1v
PCIe clock - 101
PCIe - 1.5v

I used this post for guidance in switching bios features off prior to the OC:

This is giving a 2.88Ghz overclock @ temps around the 50 mark underload (occationally blipping to 53ish) running Orthos (priority 5, blend) for 60 mins.

I am very aware of the voltage increases I have had to do, in some case 0.2v per 5Mhz of FSB... With the way it is going I will struggle to get to 3.0Ghz while keeping it below 1.45v...

So is there something I can do to lower my CPU volts and thus reduce the temps? Or is my current cooling not suitable to OC to 3.0Ghz? What is a comfortable ceiling for CPU volts? A friend of mine has a near identical rig to mine at work and has managed 3Ghz but I haven't been able to gleam any settings from him so not sure how it was achieved.

I did run an Orthos test small FFT and this ramped the core temps to 57 degrees which is not pleasant! I know these chips have more to offer at lower temps...

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
