I'm not sure that this is possible so if some knowledgeable person tells me I've no hope then at least I won't waste anymore time.

I tend to use my voip router when travelling and I usually manage to get a hotel room with ethernet connection. In those cases I don't have a problem.

But some hotels only provide a wireless connection. Would it be possible to connect my voip router to the ethernet port on my lappy so that the router, and the voip ports, can access the internet via the lappy?

I realise that, if it is possible, that the quality of service will probably be crap.

Is it possible? And, if so, what do I have to do to have the lappy act as an access point in this way?

thanks

why dont u just install voip software on your lappy.

I'm trying to replicate all aspects my work system on my lappy so I can easily and quickly set up. That includes stored numbers in the handset.

OK. Forget the voip aspect for now. Is it possible to use a lappy (or any computer for that matter) as a hub? And, if so, how?

Internet <-> Wireless Modem/Router <- - -> Computer <--> Router <--> other devices.

bridge your wireless and ethernet connections on the laptop together

The Vonage X-Pro Softphone requires a separate number and account to the regular number and account. So it cannot be used to access an existing voip/router account.

of course :doh: I'm happy with that on XP. But can anyone tell me how to do this on a MAC?
