I dont know but its furry.
Gah this damn thing has annoyed me for hours now.

Got a new Belkin modem/wireless G router which seems to be set up ok, followed all the instructions to the letter but it just wont connect to the internet.

All the right little lights are on (horray for my technical explanations!) and my laptop picks up the signal of the wi-fi with excellent strength and the modem says its connected to the net with all the ISP settings put in the right places.

Its just wont connect damn its eyes! Have i over looked something really obvious?

If it helps advicing my ISP is Wanadoo.

did you connect the lappy to the router with a cable first?

cant really say wthout looking, but follow the instructions to the tee...

oh, and dont use the supplied software to connect.... my linkysys wouldnt budge, use the XP setup wizard for wireless connections....

have you left the network open or set up a passkey?

Output from ipconfig /all would be a start, trying it using a cable to avoid the potential horrors of wireless would be another.

This was the case when I installed mine.

Can't remember exactly what I did but it had something to do with the MAC address. Think I may have copied the MAC from my original connection (MODEM > PC) and then applied it to the MODEM > Router > PC setup???

Yeah, if it's cable you have to go through the whole modem off, modem on, wait for lights to steady, router on rigmarole.
