North Korea

That wouldn't be the responsible way to think about it if you the person in charge of defence. North Korea's ideology is utterly warped, just look at how they treat their dead leaders, in a see through casket, on display, so people can worship them as gods. Utterly mental!

4 day swift attack with regular troops, one division of tanks and few aeroplanes then hand it over to south korea would be enough. You don't have to nuke it from orbit. You just need to convince China to look away...

You are a bit optimistic :p if the North Koreans stand and fight in any kind of numbers it would take a good 4 months minimum to grind them down.

War is a funny old thing though number can count for nothing against tactics or experience and you might get tons of them putting up a fight or their entire military might fold at the first chance.

The approaches to Pyongyang are largely softer ground, marshes, farmland, rivers and watercourses, etc. forcing heavy armour into bottlenecks where even a single hull down T-55 with reasonable cover could be a significant menace combined with Pyongyang having dense anti-air defences which would need systematically taking apart. The only way you'd over-run them in 4 days if they actually dug in and fought back would be massive indiscriminate barrages of cruise missiles and heavy artillery.

The rest of the country is densely packed valleys and uneven terrain which again favours the defenders even with the tech advantage the US forces would have - not going to stop them but its going to slow them down considerably.

The other problem is that their army is fully capable of fighting autonomously or semi-autonomously in geographic divisions - which makes them more exploitable to propaganda from both sides but also means they'd keep fighting even if the leadership was cut off or defeated.

This is easy... Send tanks in from Chang Dong, planes in from Tae Dong, and then stick it to them in the behind via King Dong !

Once always thought this should have been nipped out long ago.

Has the world not learnt?
They will get more and more dangerous.
The people live in fear and are completely repressed.

Needs to be finished since sooner the better

Both. If you had to pick, which haircut would you go for? I mean if you had to have one their haircuts, which would you choose? I think Kim's based purely on this picture of Trump.

Hull down T-55?

Stop please with the crack.

Hull down T-55?

How else would you use 50s era Soviet tanks even with its relatively limited gun depression but that can be compensated for? open ground its gonna get destroyed.

The terrain can allow them as the defender to just wait for the enemy to come to them while providing some cover against things like ATGMs, etc.

Stop please with the crack.

Most of my information is based off of reports by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies.

What games do you play that are multiplayer

In what respect?

All I'm saying is much of the terrain on approach to Pyongyang is marshland and rice fields which means that assaulting heavy armour is forced into predictable routes with places where they are funnelled into bottlenecks - the best chance NK has is to dig in their older equipment at those points which gives them the best chance of putting up any kind of fight - pretty much any other tactic sees them obliterated before they even have line of sight on enemy forces.

LOL, never change Strider :D ;)

Come on now, we've literally left a tiny worthless nation go unchallenged while it attempted to and succeeded in developing nuclear weapons, not even other WMDs (biological/chemical) but the political big daddy.

Yet we've attacked Iraq for an abandoned/crap program and no serious presence of any chemical/biological arms? Sure it's a bit a different with China next door, but come on, the hypocrisy is repugnant at the moment, especially considering there are literally all the amazing media attention around WMDs in Iraq, but nah North Korea literally blows up mountains and flies missiles hundreds of miles off the Japanese mainland... that's fine.

How long will it be before we do what was going to happen anyway? How many lives must end, should a part of Seoul be obliterated?

They also have an extensive chemical and biological weapons program and a far bigger chance they'd use that against somewhere like Japan than nukes.

I worded it stupidly, i know they have such weapons as they like killing their leaders family members with them, but politically people fear the word "Nuclear" like the plague, regardless that actually it isn't really as scary as a Biological weapon at all, sure a holocaust is certainly... bad, but a tiny amount of a virus/parasite could literally wipe the planet out.

Wasn't saying you didn't know just pointing out the additional contraction that they've been allowed to also pursue those programs with minimal response while when other countries have done it the US has screamed blue murder.
