North Wales Road Trip & EVO Triangle

triangle.jpg

I nearly did a Darryn, Yokohamas and the damp, major sideways moment on one of the downhill sweeping corners. Cue tank slapper and brown pants!

would have loved to tag along!

if we do it again, I think opening it up to the forums may be on the cards, it would have been even better with a wider variation of vehicles there!

I would have loved to have had a go on the triangle and the A4212 in my old Fiesta ST.

Yeah definitely! Will have a new car aswell to play with by then.

Always wanted to drive up to Scotland to, aswell as Wales. Should get something organised for the next trip.

Forget the A4212, it's boring, take the B4391 up to Ffestiniog, that's a proper road.

Yes, B4391 is miles better than the A4212. I stay at Porthmadog, coming from London, i stop at Telford Tesco to fill up then I generally do this route, although in Jan this year there was a bad accident (2 killed i think) on the HorseShoe Pass so didnt get that part in. Also, the A470 descending into Blaenau Ffestiniog has good views, but not really a driving road.

I'm thinking about doing a Masters in Bristol just to be close to these epic roads :p

Bristol is awesome, but I am not sure I would want to drive to the Evo Triangle, drive it, and then drive back. There are some very good roads around Bristol though.

noted, its on the list for next time :)

Looks like a fun drive. Give me a shout next time, will tag along :)

will do, you would be more than welcome mate.

that would be a bit of a trek. google maps suggests 163 mi, 3 hours 15 mins

We should all do it! Get it organised for the start of summer so we have plenty of time to plan ahead.

Always wanted to drive around Wales and Scotland and would prefer to do it with other enthusiasts.

Personally I don't think it's such a great idea. A group of cars driving hard is going to attract unwanted attention. It's also going to end up with someone showing off and doing a Darryn.

why are people so negative in motors these days?! First someone posts a thread of his favourite driving roads and gets shot down, and now this? Seriously can people not drive down roads anymore?

I organised a group of 15 Fiestas, one Audi and one Integra last spring and drove from Dover to Beachy head in a coastal run. The only unwanted attention we got was armed police at the Nuclear plant near Camber :D:D

our run from the OP was a very relaxed and chilled out drive.

I think I hit Vtec less than 5 times that day. which for a 240mile round trip isn't bad going.

personally, if I was a police officer and saw a civic type r and a 350z drive past, I would be inclined to stop them anyway. so the likelyhood of a few more cars being stopped is just as high.
the roads we were driving on are notorious for being heavily policed and there are clear warning signs pointing this out.

you don't all have to be bumper to bumper, it would be a case of putting a postcode into a satnav and getting there in your own time.

if someone wanted to showboat and drive in a manner that broke the law, then that would be very much their own problem.

It's well worth it, I've done it in the Teg from South Wales. Took around 2 1/2hrs to get there. Fantastic roads :)

Think OcUK motors have learned there lesson and no one will want a repeat of the last big meet that could have ended up with a fatality.

RJ or nathwraith should get something planned. I don't live to far away so I would meet up with you 2 in stoke-on-trent.
