As long as you understood the risk. I know a lot of people who bought northern rock shares in the last few weeks on the same basis, I bet a few of them are going to be in a bad mood.
Personally I thought it was too much like a wild guess and steered clear but not only a lot of people but also a fair few funds did buy into it, so there will be some fallout from this. I think it's the right decision too late, the stigma of nationalisation aside, the government had little choice after they failed to intervene in time to start with.
