Ok, just performed my first ever overclock, well windows is running fine, havent tried to stress the system yet E6600, P5W, Geil 6400

according to CPUZ 9 x 333.5 about 3 Mhz

memory I changed to 4,4,4,12 and bank cycle time says 16

however FSB:Dram says 4:3, would this be better 1:1? and how to make it so?

ah ok, i notice ram frequency is 250 Mhz

I cant seem to find a setting for 667 in Bios? where is it hidden away?

ah ok found it, now running at 1:1 4,4,4,12,16. and 3Ghz. Things seems stable, ill run stress tests tomorrow, thanks for all the help. for the record 44,916. 3dmark2001.

Tried 3dmark05, everything ok until it tried the second "baloon and creature' test which I presume is testing the processor? Machine turned itself off. Temps seem ok turning it back on, how can I tell what 'failed'?

cheers BlueAura, how long a burn in time do you reckon, week?

also, all my 'volts' are at stock, i suppose I just add 0.2 to vmch and ram and keep testing?

A day should be fine with something like this. I find it useful to bump the voltage up to as high as you can (without risking you CPU frying) for a burn in.

Then just find your max CPU speed with loose memory timings or locked memory speed. Once you have the highest stable CPU speed reduce the vCore down as far as you can while keeping the system stable. Then do your memory speed to the max and tighten it's timings.

ok so I can find my max voltages for the CPU and ram so I don't go over them. When you say 'relaxed' timings at present im running 4,4,4,12 - so i presume 5,5,5,18 is 'relaxed'?

cheers mate, very helpful

Yeah, those timings should be fine. The idea is to isolate changes to one variable at each time so you know what is causing instability or stopping it from booting. ;) Happy overclocking.
