I was driving home last tuesday after work the same way i've drove many a time. It was raining down hard but had easyed off at this tme to a light drizzel. Didn't take road conditions into account and accelerated out of the corner, kinda lost my back end...

...anyway heres the pictures :p (very very very lucky to just walk away with a cut finger and whiplash)

Snap off oversteer? :D I love controlling it on the 2 306's I have. What model was it? Dturbo?

Yeah 1.9 Dturbo had no idea what to when I lost backend only been driving 8month dont think slamming the breaks on when I was hurdling towards the curb helped either

Learn from this and drive more carefully next time, you were obviously powering out from a corner (boy racer)

I'm as far from a boy racer as possible I only got the car as a handy me down from my brother as he got a 200SX, sorry but I take offense from that comment you dont know me end of day it was an accident and I know I was very very lucky

Come on Fox, it's hardly 'residential'. It's an on-camber corner leading into an NSL straight, are you honestly professing to have never geared up to accelerating out of a similar corner?

The guy made a (daft) mistake, we've all been there, his was just unlucky/lucky, depending on how you look at it.

cheers Kingy for sticking up for me there granted it was a very daft mistake. I cant really remember what happend exactly but I think I lost back end quite abit after the corner not sure how I would manage to do this tho might of done a 360(prob dremt that part but having vague recolection) after I hit the curb head on passenger side went into that stone gate post which fipped the car over on a pivot

I don't believe it was caused by him 'powering' out of the corner, it wouldnt unsettle the car in such a way that could cause that to happen. I think he tanked it into the corner, thought argghg, jumped off the accelerator, etc.

I was doing under 30 as a lady driver in a mini was following me and said I wasn't speeding. I prob did enter the corner to fast for the road conditions tho

All I can say is i'm going to live by my mistake and very lucky me or anyone else wasn't hurt

My point was that doing 'over 30' in such a corner on the exit from the village is hardly obscene. His mistake was stamping on the brakes mid corner, not playing in the first place imo.

I stamped on the breaks well after the corner when I was going up the curb

Why ever did you do that, had the local bus company sold out of season tickets :p

Because it was only £450 and needed a car for work asap so bought it in desperation :o

Hopefully wont have it to long(touch wood)

Picked up some GTI alloys for it off e-bay for £60 lol (embarasment has started)

thats some pretty impressive crash mate, atleast if your going to write a car off you may as well do it in style, none of this silly hitting a curb, warping the chassis and killing it without so much as a dent!

In all seriousness i'm glad your alright and your happy to admit upto, and hopefully learn from your mistakes. Hope the 106 doesn't get you down too much, hardly the most awe inspireing car, but i imagine you'll not be wanting a seat of your pants thrill ride of a car for a while now!

Cheers for post mate and your right lol Just gone and picked my GTI alloys up today should make it go faster

No, dipping the clutch has the exact same effect as lifting off, you get more oversteer.

In a FWD you have to floor the gas so it can pull itself straight, same as a 4WD (unless the power split has heavy rear wheel drive bias). It's the opposite of what your mind is telling you, but it's the only way you have any hope of getting it back.

Now you tell me :p
