Just wondered if anyone has this? Its only 29.99 for fibre (38mb) + some tv channels and access to their boxsets as well.

They also seem to be running an introductory deal standard broadband + tv + movies for 29.99.

But im not sure how reliable or fast they are? Im assuming it is basically SKY broadband yeah?

At the moment im on plusnet fibre at £29.99 a month and have been for a while...so im due to negotiate a better deal with them...perhaps im better off jumping ship entirely.

All FTTC is essentially going to be the same, yes NowTV is essentially a Sky service running on Roku hardware. Plusnet are the budget arm of BT, don't expect them to bend over backwards to retain you.

unfortunately i forgot i have another 5 months to run of my broadband contract. Would need to pay a penalty to get out of it.

Dunno how it is fair to lock customers into long contracts especially after the initial 12 months contract. After an initial set time customers should be allowed to leave their broadband provider for another one :/

In what way is anyone unfairly locked into a contract?

You sign up for an initial contracted period (usually with some sort of new customer sweetener).

When that comes to an end you can:-
  1. Leave it rolling with no long-term commitment (probably at an inflated cost due to discounts expiring).
  2. Move to a different provider.
  3. Re-contract with the same provider in exchange for a continuing discount of some sort.
If you've chosen option 3 don't complain if they expect you to honour it.

Some providers will sign you up with a 12 month discounted deal on an 18 month contract. Virgin are especially good a this.

The only disadvantage to now TV broadband is they still supply a rebranded Sky Hub 2 single band Wi-Fi Router rather than the latest Sky Hub 3.

How's that not fair if the full terms are clearly laid out?

Because he works for Sky ;)

Joking aside it's a marketing ploy - you stack the discount at the front of the contract knowing it looks better and the subscriber pays for it at the end. Any normal person would work out the average monthly cost before agreeing to a contract - this isn't like business electricity where you get riled over into a new contract.
