NTSC footage into PAL DVD?

I've agreed (probably foolishly) to help a friend who is a schoolteacher put together a DVD for a recent adventure trip which his school did.

He has already edited all of the footage, however I have just discovered that it has been shot/edited in NTSC.

If I just create an NTSC DVD is this likely to be played OK by all the DVD players of the parents who will be buying it? Or do I need to convert the footage to PAL and create a PAL DVD?

Thought about re-rendering? See how it comes out if you do.

Could he re-export the footage from the timeline as PAL? If not then re-render it to PAL and it shouldn't have too much of a negative effect.
