We're planning a trip to nurburgring this september, and would like to know if there is any way of finding out if the track is going to be open to the public or being hired out to a private company?

also any other hints or tips will be usefull as we have never been before.

Thank you

well we shall see what the rest of the crew says to those tips :),

on that nurburgring website, is it where it says 'Hours of operation – Nordschleife tours 2008' the hours the tracks are open to the public?

Pointless camping imho, infact i'd go as far to say the trip wouldn't be as good if you did.

Have you guys been there camping or have you always been on hotels??? We camped last time and was great and also helps if your on a budget. The campsite was right next to the track, had a shower and toilet block a 2 min walk from the tent and we had a great bloody huge bonfire every night :D I'd go as far as saying the trip wouldnt of been as good if we stayed in a hotel and just sat in a bar at night. You cant beat making a fire, cooking your bait on it and spend the rest of your night getting **** faced around it :p

Only 2 weeks tomorrow till we head back over for 5 days, cant wait

Also been in either the Guest house or Hotel, the hotel worked out at some stupid rate per night but it was nice.

Problem with camping is you get a poor nights sleep, when it rains it gets you down, when the fog comes in you can't do owt.

Track / Go-Karting / Viewing Points / Videos... / Getting lost in the woods / Beer and meals each night at the Pistenklause, can't argue with that however we get a good group going with some very interesting cars so we just chat and drink the night away :)

The trip is what you make of it, however given the cost of getting over to the ring, trying to save a few quid a night getting a bad nights sleep just doesn't seem worth it.

I can totally see where your coming from, and as you said the trip is what you make of it. When we where there last May the weather was exellent the whole time so we didnt have any problems that way. Ane we where all too ****** most nights to worry about what we were sleeping on, and my air bed is canny comfy so I was fine :p

We'll most probably try the hotels on one of our next visits and see how we find it and that may well convert us, however for now camping is fine.

Now I've bigged up camping it will more than likely be crap weather during our next trip and we'll all be wishing we went for a hotel :p

We are all motorsport enthusiasts and we will be taking our race preped 205, half the point of going will be to test out the 205 on a longer run with more full on straights as well as enjoying the time, so even if it does rain thats just half the fun gone imo.

But we will take on your opinions on propper accomodation seriously,

Depends on what you want from the experience but given that hotels are pretty cheap and it cuts down the amount of taxi trips you need to take if you get a hotel in town and like a drink......

The camping is ok but don't expect a luxury experience at Camping Am Nurburgring and if the DTM is on then expect some ****** up lairy Germans!

Don't forget to go for a Pizza at Pinnocios (spelling sorry) in Adenau. Really gorgeous huge Pizza. There's also an ok Chinese at the other end of town.

Hotel wise I stayed a couple of nights at Eddies (Hotel An Der Nordschleife) Whilst hardly being luxury it was clean, safe and much more comfortable than camping. We had a balcony which you could see the circuit from.

er yeah it is one of those uber large campsites where you can make lots of noise actually! It's sort of in the forest and is large so just pick your pitch away from any families or whatever and party. Safe? Dunno about that. We never had any problems as such although some of the Germans were a bit wierd!:p

Take a look at this site mate: Clicky

Is a company that specialises in nurburgring trips, i have a few friends that went with them a few weeks ago. Apparently one of the best trips they have had!
