I think the RX 6800 is a better GPU than the 3070 but i understand that is not clear cut.
Thing is one was available to me for £469, the other was not. Not that that was the only reason.

From your actions so far i would say no, but what i don't understand if your complaint about AMD's GPU pricing, you don't seem to have the same criticism about Nvidia.

What complaint? I merely agreed with a statement that AMD now charge just as silly moneys as Nvidia. Are you able to see then the criticism applies to both?

I don't think outright cost is the indicator of value, its more likely to be how each tier compares to the top of the line. Assuming consistent, uniform improvement (unlikely) then you would expect the percentage cost difference to be the same gen on gen, for example just whacking 50 quid on to each tier. But if this gen, a 3080 is within 15% of a 3090, but next year a 4080 is 30% off a 409p, it will be worse value.

The underlying cost is only going up. Has a gen in gen difference ever gone down?

GTX 770: $399
GTX 970: $329 and it was a much quicker card.

I reckon every card will go up 1 price tier as they've seen people will pay anything, 4070 will cost what the 3080 does, 4080 will cost what the 3090 does, 4090 will cost what the 3090 Ti does.

It would be nice to be extremely incorrect :D

What do you think the new 4000 series from Nvidia will cost?

1. Cheaper than 3000 series

2. Same as 3000 series

3. Higher than 3000 series

4. Huge up pricing restructure from Nv

(directly due to what people were actually willing to spend with the over inflated pricing on available stock)

Can we get a poll please?

Just a bit of fun.

4. Plus even more scalper margin.

The 4080 will be a nice upgrade.. ..in 2027. :)

Higher prices and restructuring. Staggered launches also.

RDNA 3 looks like it will have at least some MCM graphics cards. so I bet Nvidia is already planning their own MCM series launch for 2023.

It doesn't matter if the prices go up a tier. We can pay the same as usual anyway. So if you normally get an xx80 card then drop a tier and get the 4070. So there's no price increase.

There's still a huge performance gain if the 4060 Ti performs like a 3090 etc. So upgrading from a 3080 to 4070 would give your framerate an absolutely unheard of gen on gen boost.

I'm not sure why the RTX 4070 would need to offer that kind of performance. I think it may be just slightly ahead of the RTX 3080 10GB, with much improved ray tracing performance.

It’s all guesses at the moment. The specs leaked have already changed a few times. Take all this with a huge grain of salt.

I still remember the RX 480 launch

Has MCM definitely been confirmed for some RNDA 3 models?

Or, could it be 5nm used for the GPU die, and 6nm used for other parts of the graphics card?

Higher than 3000 series without a doubt.

Nvidia tried their luck with the 2000 series, but since the 3000 series they've realised people will pay well over the odds.

A 4090 will cost 2k minimum on launch, and yes I know there likely won't be a 4090 on release of the new cards. The 4080 will probably be the highest end initially.

I recon there will be a 4090 on launch and it will be between £1500-£2000. It will be big and run hot and consume a lot of energy. And people will still buy it
