Nvidia 8800gts 640mb finally died, what now

I received the card today, thanks Overclockers for the great service :)

I have installed the card and I was very pleased that the PC booted without any of the beeps I had with the Nvidia! I installed the CD that came with it (Catalyst) and tried America's Army v2.4 and to be honest I don't really see a lot of difference in terms of performance, likewise with Need For Speed Hot Pursuit! My Windows Experience (Graphics) has gone up from 6.7 to 7.7 so it must have installed OK. Should I see a real difference or is the card just too good for PC? Also I noticed one of the PCIE slots were blue, but if I had put it in this one the card would have sat to low and wouldn't vent as well as the top slot!
 
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 1440x900, I was at 1600x something but that was just to test the card! The game just seems a little slow and sometimes laggy! maybe I am just use to playing it on the PS3! Americas Army is at full res which I think is 1600x1050 but that is an old game, was just expecting it to be a little smoother than before!
