To be fair, making a generalising statement is no worse than picking out random comments from elsewhere which allegedly disprove the generalising statement. All you've shown is that it was OK for those people.

Your point would have had more resonance if you'd left it after the first comment.

Well yes I have every right to pull quotes from others experiences to use as a base to disprove that an individuals is not to be used in general, but to take numerous from both sides, so that's what I did.
 
My point was more that posting those experiences doesn't show anything more than what his sweeping generalisation did and as such while you have a correct and valid point that most people don't have AMD driver issue your post is just as 'bad' (sorry couldn't think of a better word) as his.

I don't think you really need to try to prove that issues are there on both sides and similarly that not everyone has issues. It's so obvious to anyone debating with half a brain cell that that's the case.

That's all you've really done with those quotes I'm afraid and it didn't really need saying.

The real issue to debate would be assuming a clean slate and playing numerous games how likely are you to run into poor performance/other driver issues?

Of course there is no data on this :D.

Warranted or not, the trend is to slate AMD drivers, considering some of the dross posted in general(from both sides) on the matter, why challenge that post when you don't challenge similar posts any other time?

Because while Final8y's post was similar it wasn't the same and warranted a reply to which you can read above.

A post which says that "AMD drivers are rubbish lol" or words to that effect isn't really worth responding to most of the time unless I'm poking somebody for my own amusement.

I haven't see any "nVidia driver suck lol" or posts in the same vein as Final8y's anywhere and anyway, I didn't know it was a requirement to respond to every negatively phrased driver post. :rolleyes:

My point is that you cannot take things in generally from a personal experience and contuied misconceptions even when the situations change, I have done that and all you have been doing is arguing semantics on how you disprove of my methods, the only thing that matters is the point and not being pedantic about how it is done.

I don't disprove of your methods I'm just saying it's stating the complete obvious and as he is probably trolling you you're just feeding him by responding with a myriad of quotes.

He could just find a load of random quotes saying AMD drivers are terrible and it would have just as much weight in the debate as what your post did. Hence it being a little pointless and bringing back to my previous point that you should have just left it as it was as you nullified his point with your first comment.

I don't see much 'drivers are rubbish lol' posts here though rusty, if the shoe was on the other foot, there would be plenty of quotes in a similar fashion going up and I doubt there would be much noise against it at all.

I'll stop discussing it here as it was a pointless post, pointless discussing it as it's taking the discussion down another pointless route. :) ;)

No it does not because as you said you could find plenty of quotes saying AMD driver's are terrible and that's my point that you can find just as many issue on both sides and that people should not comment as if it's only on one side for to most part just because they have not come across them personally or that they pretend that they don't.
Facts can't be nullified no matter whats said unless your saying my points are not true.

I'm not sure why you've highlighted the 'lol' part?! I was framing the level of the debate on posts like this - i.e. rockbottom.

You posted as if I had done something which you didn't like by not highlighting something on the other side somewhere and then you went on to talk about 'if' this and 'if' that... so yes you're right, your post was a teeny bit pointless wasn't it? :D

If you disagree with this then say so:

I'm saying you have nullified the guys point who said AMD drivers were across the board bad, with your first post.

Posting quotes showing that "AMD drivers are alright, honest 'Guv" shows as much as posting quotes showing "AMD drivers are terrible lol" i.e. nothing.

It goes without saying (which you seem to have ignored) that driver issues are on both sides and again you seemed to have missed where I said drivers can have problems on both sides so I don't know why you're ranting as if I've said the opposite :D

I went on to say that a proper debate would assume zero PEBKAC and then what is the probability of getting driver issues?

Nope it was not going off on a tangent, my quotes were about people's experience with driver's which is what the person I was replaying to was talking about so no they were not tangent unrelated to driver's quotes.
And you say I should o left it there when it would have been if it was not for you. So take some blame yourself.
