Dynamic Tiling Description
Simultaneous multithreaded (SMT) processors use data caches which are dynamically shared between threads. Depending on the processor workload, sharing the data cache may harm performance due to excessive cache conflicts. A way to overcome this problem is to physically partition the cache between threads. Unfortunately, partitioning the cache requires additional hardware and may lead to lower utilisation of the cache in certain workloads. It is therefore important to consider software mechanisms to implicitly partition the cache between threads by controlling the locations in the cache in which each thread can load data. This paper proposes standard program transformations for partitioning the shared data caches of SMT processors, if and only if there are conflicts between threads in the shared cache at runtime. We propose transformations based on dynamic tiling. The key idea is to use two tile sizes in the program, one for single-threaded execution mode and one suitable for multithreaded execution mode and switch between tile sizes at runtime. Our transformations combine dynamic tiling with either copying or storing arrays in block layout. The paper presents an implementation of these transformations along with runtime mechanisms for detecting cache contention between threads and react to it on-the-fly. Our experimental results show that for regular, perfect loop nests, these transformations provide substantial performance improvements.

Not an option i've noticed before !

WTF? Awesome...

If that is what I think it is (multiple GPUs working on a single frame), then it's what I've been waiting for since nvidia did away with SFR!

edit: oh :( I see that it is nothing of the sort. Oh well.

Its guys like you using tools to clean up drivers that cause you these problems in the first place. I remember using these same tools years ago and they gave me all sorts of problems sometimes resulting in me having to reinstall windows.

All i ever do with ati drivers is uninstall using the catalyst manager then install the new set and surprise surprise it all works fine.

Any how hope these new nv drivers work out good for you guys.

I always use driver sweeper. never let me down.

These are the options in the cp

Also, it looks like they threw out G80 and older support for now so I made a modded inf for it. Get it here if you need it.

Its only unsafe in that performance will potentially go down the drain in some conditions - possibly causing the application to crash but I couldn't say for definite.

Well the drivers installed fine and i think the new interface is slick - for what it's worth :)

The clean install option is also a really nice feature and it works very well. I had been running the 259.47 drivers leaked from Windows Update that were actually designed for a specific laptop, they created a new user (UpdateUS) and some other funky leftovers and these drivers removed all of it.

All i have installed are Mafia 2 and Crysis at the moment, but i will test them now and see if anything changed.

Not a great amount but more interested in gpu gaming usage and gothic 2 fix :D , games are a lot smoother though.

I can also verify that BFBC2 has much better GPU usage and way less stutter.

Also reports of better GPU usage in Mafia 2

Mafia 2 , also my gpu usage is a lot better now, also fps. PhysX High (cloth tweak) benchmark, previous 31fps , now 35fps.

Very nice boost in Mafia 2 for me, on previous drivers i was getting 40-42fps in the benchmark, just did 2 runs and got 47 and 48fps. I think i am CPU limited there as well. Have not played any of the game yet, but i will go do that shortly.

No change in Crysis, but that was to be expected. My GPU load was pretty much pegged at 95%+ on that benchmark before anyway.

Seem like really nice drivers to me so far, will report any more findings if i re-install some other games.

EDIT: and to celebrate 808 posts...
